When it comes down to building a home network, powerline adapters are a pretty nice compromise between Ethernet and wireless solutions, but one of their main disadvantages is the fact that you lose a power outlet with every adapter you connect, but Netgear is set to change that with its 200Mbps Powerline AV Adapters with Bonus Outlet.

As you can probably see for yourself Trendnet manages to overcome this obstacle by adding an additional power outlet to its TPL-304E units that also come with a embedded power saving technology, which reduces power consumption by up to 70% in standby mode, according to the manufacturer.

Apart from the additional power outlet, Trendnet's powerline adapters also come with an built-in electrical noise filter designed to maintain high performance signal strength, AES encryption for increased data safety as well as an LED display for easy power management and troubleshooting.

Furthermore, TPL-304E2K adapters can be used together with other seven such devices, the connection process being as straight forward as possible since it only requires users to press a single button, dubbed “One-touch Connect.”

"When you plug in a TPL-304E into the wall you don't lose an electrical outlet, since it has a bonus outlet built right in," stated Sonny Su, Technology Director for Trendnet.

"Power saving technology reduces electrical consumption in standby mode by up to 70%.

Since Powerline networking products are always plugged in and turned on, the embedded power saving technology greatly reduces power consumption," said the company's rep.

Available in both a kit form as well as standalone units, these will come to market sometime in November, the adapters being compatible with European and US power plugs.

Unfortunately, pricing is not known at this time, but these will surely came up once we get nearer to the actual release date.
