Nobody can deny the fact that IPTV could as well become the de facto standard when it comes down to broadcasting TV stations throughout our homes especially if devolo has it its way, the German company just announcing three new powerline networking solutions specially designed for streaming IPTV content.

Dubbed Hybrid TV, dLAN 500 and dLAN 200 AV Wireless N, all these solutions are basically powerline networking adapters with all sort of additional features built-in.

I will start things off with the modular Hybrid TV system that can receive both satellite DVB-S2 programming as well as regular IPTV content and stream it to the rest of the household via powerline thanks to the included IP set-top box, thus eliminating the need to route coaxial cables throughout your home in order to enjoy satellite TV.

Next in line is the dLAN 500 adapter which is based on the IEEE1901 standard offering a transmission rate of up to 500Mbps, as well as coming with a longer range, enabling multiple HDTV channels to be transmitted simultaneously and retrieved throughout the home.

Finally, we get the dLAN 200 AV Wireless N that is actually a 3-in-1 adapter that features WLAN, LAN and dLAN in one compact unit, the dLAN 200 being able to offer transfer speeds of up to 200Mbps via powerline while it also features three Ethernet ports.

"With our existing dLAN TV Sat solution, we offer Internet service providers a simple and cost-effective solution for obtaining optimum utilisation of their broadband networks and implementing data transfer-intensive applications such as HDTV via DVB-S2," remarks Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo AG.

He continues: "For the BBWF, devolo is unveiling a one-of-a-kind solution that allows satellite TV to be retrofitted on existing triple play set-top boxes at the customer's location."

"In addition, at the BBWF we are once again demonstrating that powerline is the ideal in-house networking technology that offers many advantages, not only on the transmission side.

The dLAN 500 and the new dLAN 200 AV Wireless N are outstanding, well-conceived products that are also easy to install and thus ensure high customer satisfaction," adds Harald Hilgers, Sales Manager of devolo AG.

Unfortunately, devolo didn't sent any prices our way, although all these units will be showcased at the Broadband World Forum that takes place in Paris, France from 26 to 28 October 2010.
