Even though native chipset support for USB 3.0 has only now started to trickle into the worldwide hardware market, the USB 3.0 standard is already quite popular, and TRENDnet decided it would build upon that popularity by unleashing an USB 3.0 hub.

The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard caused quite a few ripples on the IT market when it was first published, obviously because of its speed.

Basically, compared to USB 2.0, it can work at speeds up to ten times faster, about 5 Gbps to be exact, and this performance has already spawned a new generation of external storage units, among other things.

Nevertheless, USB 3.0 is still, more or less, limited to the higher levels of the motherboard and storage markets, so TRENDnet thought it would remedy this in its own way.

What the company created is an USB 3.0 hub with four individual ports, each of which features the aforementioned and now infamous maximum speed of 5 Gbps.

It even has an USB 3.0 Type B port for the PC connection, of course, and the product measures 60 x 95 x 22 mm and a weight of 68 grams.

"With the rapid adoption of USB 3.0 devices, TRENDnet's 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub allows users to share content between USB 3.0 devices and your computer at 5Gbps speeds," stated Zak Wood, Director of Global Marketing for TRENDnet.

"The total time savings produced by this hub is well worth the investment," Wood went on to saying.

The hub is named TU3-H4 and should let any cameras, storage enclosures, flash drives, solid state drives, hard disk drives and any other compatible electronic easily connect to the host personal computer.

Finally, the company's official press release states that shipments should commence shortly, through online and retail partners, where the product will be priced at $79.99.
