Lately, Trendnet has been making great strides in order to deliver a full range of Wireless N compatible products, the company just announcing they have expanded their 802.11n product family with the TEW-690AP, the first to market 450Mbps Wireless N access point.

Just like all the other devices build using the 802.11n standard, Trendnet's access point manages to reach these impressive speeds thanks to the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology that delivers three spatial streams per antenna.

As a result, a maximum theoretical wireless throughput of 450Mbps is possible while also providing better wireless coverage than single antenna designs.

The TEW-690AP supports Access Point, Wireless Distribution System (WDS), and Repeater mode functionality as well as 4 SSIDs per wireless band, unique encryption for each SSID, WMM Quality of Service (QoS) data prioritization and WPA2-RADIUS encryption.

Furthermore, Trendnet included a WPS button on the TEW-690AP that allows users to easily encrypt the wireless transmission.

As Trendnet puts it, you only need to press the WPS button on the TEW-690AP, and then press the WPS button on a compatible wireless adapter, the two devices automatically exchanging information and connecting with each other.

Integration of the TEW-690AP in your home network is done via a high bandwidth Gigabit LAN port, found on the back of the TEW-690AP, right next to the DC input.

“Trendnet will be the first brand to bring a full portfolio of 450Mbps solutions to market,” stated Zak Wood, director of global marketing for Trendnet.

“Expect more first to market announcements in the coming New Year at CES,” continued Mr. Wood.

The TEW-690AP 450Mbps Wireless N Access Point, is currently shipping to the company's online and retail partners, the recommended retail price being set at $199.99, which makes it a great deal more expensive than most other 300Mbps solutions available on the market at the present time.
