After the US launch of the Portege Z835 Ultrabook that dropped the price of Toshiba’s ultra-slim to a rather cool $799 (593 EUR), Europe now also received a less expensive version of the Portege Z830 that drops pricing under the 1,000 EUR mark.

The new model is called the Portege Z830-10E and it was spotted in various French online stores by Laptop Spirit with prices starting at 950€ ($1,278 US).

At the heart of Toshiba's Ultrabook stands a dual-core Core i5-2467M processor with a base clock speed of 1.6GHz and a maximum Turbo speed of 2.3GHz.

This is seconded by 4GB of system memory (6GB max) and a 128GB solid state drive, while graphics is provided by the integrated Intel HD 3000 GPU found inside mobile Sandy Bridge processors.

The rest of the specifications list doesn't bring any surprises, as the Z830-10E packs the standard Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Gigabit LAN connectivity, a 1.3MP webcam and a single USB 3.0 port.

The 13.3-inch display has a native resolution of 1366x768 pixels, but the Ultrabook can also be connected to an external display via the included HDMI, VGA and mini-DP video outputs.

Furthermore, for those of you who don’t want to run any wires through your home Toshiba also included support for Intel's Wireless Display technology.

All of these are housed inside an elegant case measuring a mere 15.9mm (0.6 inches) in thickness, which is constructed from magnesium alloy and aluminum, and are joined by a backlit keyboard for making typing in the dark a lot easier.

Power is provided by a Li-ion 8-cell non-removable battery pack that according to Toshiba enables the Portege Z830 to run up to 8 hours without a recharge.
