Today, leading provider of wireless broadband services Clearwire Corporation, which is also the operator of the largest 4G network in the United States, announced that three of its Board of Directors members have stepped down.

According to the wireless carrier, these three would be Daniel R. Hesse, Keith O. Cowan, and Steven L. Elfman.

Moreover, Clearwire notes that Hesse, Cowan and Elfman are all Sprint Nextel Corporation employees, and that they were nominated to the Clearwire board of directors by Sprint, which is one of the largest investors in the Corporation.

“Clearwire was informed by Sprint that the decisions to resign were made out of an abundance of caution to address questions raised by Clearwire regarding new developments in antitrust law,” the wireless carrier announced.

According to the company, its board of directors has a number of 13 members, seven of which can be appointed by Sprint.

While Hesse, Cowan and Elfman leave the Clearwire board, the other four members that were appointed by Sprint will remain unchanged, it appears.

“The remaining four Sprint appointees to the Clearwire board are unchanged, and Sprint reserved the right to appoint new members to the Clearwire board at a later date,” the company announced on the matter.

The company has put in place the larges 4G network in the country, marketed under the name of CLEAR, which already covers a number of 55 cities around the US, and can offer mobile broadband services to over 66 million people.
