Mobile phone carrier Sprint announced today the launch of 4G services in more markets around the United States, including populous areas of California, Delaware, Florida and Michigan. According to the wireless services provider, the launch of its services in Modesto, Calif., Stockton, Calif., Jacksonville, Fla., Wilmington, Del., and Grand Rapids, Mich. Bring the number of metropolitan areas that can enjoy 4G speeds to up to 48.

Users in these markets can benefit from enhanced mobile broadband connectivity, which enables them to browse over the Internet at faster speeds than before no matter their location within the coverage area. Sprint is the first wireless carrier in the US to offer 4G connectivity to its customers, with Wilmington, Jacksonville and Grand Rapids being the first cities in Delaware, Florida and Michigan to benefit from it now.

“Sprint customers are the first in the country to use 4G with either a smartphone like HTC EVO or one of Sprint’s other 4G devices like the 3G/4G Overdrive Hotspot to wirelessly connect a laptop to the Internet,” said Matt Carter, president of 4G, Sprint. “Later this year, Sprint will launch Boston, Miami, New York and Los Angeles, enabling millions more to harness this powerful new service.” the Sprint 4G services are available on Clearwire's WiMAX network.

Sprint 4G offers fast download speeds, in addition to enabling users enjoy video streaming and enhanced Internet browsing experiences. The wireless technology provides download speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G, Sprint says. Sprint also offers simplicity and savings vs. competitors with Everything Data plans, which include unlimited Web, texting and calling while on the Sprint network for one low price,” the wireless carrier announced.
