Apple started advertising their new iPod shuffle

A bunch of new products, a bunch of new ads. Some are better than others and the difference between them is as big as the difference between the products they present. Let's take the "Get a Mac" ads. Now, if you've read what I blabbered in the past few weeks you would already know that I am not such a big fan. Don't get me wrong, they are much better than others, but they just don't have that... "panache" if I may say so. They lack the... mojo and don't really do the trick for, except giving me a few minor laughs. It would have been fine if they were just something in addition to "the big ad". I mean, there should have been the king of ads for Macs. There should have been something that would make say: "What are they selling, because I really want to give someone money for this!!!"

But they are not even close. Just picking on PCs it's just mean... and it gets even uglier when the PC character is so damn funny and nice. Those ads make me want to say: "there there PC, don't be upset that the mean Mac picked on you, I'll buy you..." Well, maybe that is just me... but this is my article and I can write what I want. Ha! Not really... but still, I cannot be so objective and I am greatly influenced by my preferences; and speaking of preferences, the nano ad is superb.

When it comes to the iPod, everything is good, its looks, its specs, its ads. Just try and tell me that - after seeing that add - you didn't think at least once of buying one. I already have one and I would want all of them. I'm am absolutely sure that I wouldn't have any use with all five of them, and I would actually use only the black one, being that I only wear black, but that ad is just fabulous.

That is what ads should do! They should make you want the product they are advertising by highlighting what that product has to offer; what it has new and what it has best. The nano commercial does more than that. It features really cool but at the same time simple special effects, nice soundtrack and it's directly at the subject.

The kind of technique politicians use to defend themselves by distracting everyone's attention from them and highlighting the defects of others is just rubbish to me. It doesn't have any value and the whole message is pointless. I don't care if others are worse; I care if you are better... if you know what I mean.

The Shuffle Ad

It seems that Apple is getting the point and - unlike the Macs - they are going straight to the sensible spot with the iPod ads. They just started advertising the iPod shuffle trough a really nice, to the subject and wonderful put together ad. In my humble opinion it's not that good as the nano ad, but it's much more expressive and it's just wonderful how in fifteen seconds the director managed to say this much without any words.

This ad clearly says that the iPod shuffle is for everyone, every occasion, it's small, it's cool, it can be clipped everywhere and it just is the next fashion statement. I mean, just look at it and tell me that the shuffle doesn't look great on every single one of those outfits. And the music, perfectly picked. A nice little song, really catchy and which says something I really don't understand. And here comes the genius part... the whole song is in French. What better way to suggest the idea of fashion if not in French, as France was the fashion capital of the world last time I checked.

So the message its clear: The new fashion accessory that goes with everything on every occasion everywhere is The iPod shuffle. Although I did find this ad a little disturbing, there is something about women taking off their clothes and becoming men that just scares me a bit.

Anyway... it is a nice ad and it can be viewed HERE
