With the launch of the new generation of 1GB iPod shuffle that costs only $79, the old iPod shuffle gets a major discount.

Well, the fact that the new iPod shuffle is more than half the size of the old one, and that it costs less than a pack of chewing gum, Apple offers incredible deals on the refurbished iPod shuffle from the previous generation. Apple Certified Refurbished products are pre-owned Apple products that undergo Apple's stringent refurbishment process prior to being offered for sale. All Apple Certified Refurbished products are covered by Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty.

Apple Certified Refurbished iPod shuffle with the storage capacity of 512MB and 1GB are available at prices as low as $29 and $59, respectively. Also, AppleCare Protection plan is available for these models for $59 and extends the 90-day complimentary support and one-year warranty to two-years of support and service. The original pricing for these models was of $99 and $149, respectively.

These are not the only deals Apple is offering. Other iPod models, like the nano and mini can be found at 51% off the original price. The 2GB and the 4GB iPod nano's prices were lowered from $199 and $249 to $99 and $149 respectively, while refurbished iPod mini with 4GB of storage capacity can be bought now with $99 instead of $199.

These refurbished iPods are available with free shipping in the U.S., while resellers outside the US practice their own prices and discounts. MacNN reports that the Apple Store Canada also lowered its iPod shuffle pricing, with 512MB models available for $33 and 1GB models priced at $69.
