Thecus has just announced the introduction of a new line of NAS devices that goes under the name of XXX, from Xreme Power, Xtreme Function, and Xtreme Value, and packs a wide range of network storage solutions, from entry-level 2-bay units to 2U rack mountable devices.

All the units are powered by Intel Atom processors, are compatible with Thecus' new V5 firmware and come with a variety of software features such as the company's Piczza! photo server and ThecusShare apps as well as Web Disk, FTP server and Web server support.

Making our way to the top, the first NAS model that we encounter is the N2200XXX which can be equipped with a pair of 3.5-inch hard drives and is powered by an Atom D525 processor, paired together with 1GB of DDR3 SODIMM memory, enabling the unit to reach transfer speeds in excess of 100MB/s, according to the company.

In addition to the two drives, the N2200XXX also features a multi-format card reader as well as a front panel USB 2.0 port.

Just above the N2200XXX, we find the 3-bay N3200XXX NAS which features an external eSATA port, RAID 0, 1, 5 and JBOD support as well as AES 256bit encryption.

This is the only network storage device in the XXX lineup to feature the slower Atom N270 processors that is paired together with 1GB of DDR2 SODIMM memory.

Going for its bigger brother, the N5200XXX, increases the number of SATA bays available to five and adds RAID 6 and RAID 10 support while the rest of the specs remain the same.

Next in line is the 1U4200XXX which, as its name implies, comes in a 1U form factor while supporting four internal 3.5-inch SATA drives as well as an eSATA storage solution and five USB 2.0 disks via the available front and back connectors.

Finally, the last model to be announced is the N8200XXX that can hold up to eight SATA 3.5-inch drives inside its 2U rack mount chassis.

Sadly, no details regarding the prices of these products have been made available until now.
