Since NAS devices have become quite popular when it comes to home and small office networks, their makers have begun to use stronger hardware in their making, and Thecus seems quite eager to surprise with it newest such model.

The new product that Thecus has completed goes by the name of N4200PRO and uses a dual-core CPU to manage up to four 3.5-inch hard disks.

The central processing unit in question is the Intel Atom D525, which has a frequency of 1.8 GHz and is backed up by 1 GB of DDR3 RAM.

It is these two components that allow the 3.5-inch drives to work at their fullest, them being possible to configure in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 or JBOD setups.

The list of features does not stop at just these components, however, as Techus also threw in a mini-UPS to protect against power outages, a pair of eSATA ports and a Gigabit Ethernet connector.

Not only that, but there is even a 2.8-inch OLED display meant to show the status of each drive.

“Upgraded with a next-generation Intel Atom processor and DDR3 memory, we've taken the original Zero-Crash NAS and made it even better,” said Florence Shih, Thecus Technology general manager.

“Packing the latest technology and signature Thecus features and friendliness, the N4200PRO is by far the most powerful, feature-packed, and secure four-bay NAS we've ever devised,” Shih added.

“Many small businesses are deploying network attached storage appliances as their first company solution,” said David Tuhy, general manager, Intel Storage Group.

“Our newest Intel Atom processor with integrated RAID storage features enables companies like Thecus to deliver the energy efficiency, performance and data protection required to meet the needs of its customers,” Tuhy went on to saying.

Unfortunately, while it revealed all relevant information on the actual hardware, Thecus did not provide pricing details.
