Bethesda is ironing out bugs

As The Pitt, Bethesda's second piece of downloadable content for Fallout 3, arrived on the Xbox 360 and on the PC, players began reporting that the add-on had quite a few glitches. There were weird colors present in places they shouldn't have been, character models were corrupted while large exclamation marks appeared floating in the air.

As the bug reports streamed in, Bethesda made the decision to take The Pitt off Xbox Live Marketplace in order to see what was wrong with the DLC and what it could do to fix it so that players could enjoy it as it was intended. At the moment, there are no reports of corruption affecting the PC version of The Pitt.

The official Bethesda Softworks blog stated that “We are continuing to look into the issues people are experiencing with The Pitt for Xbox 360. As of now, it looks like the file for the English version on Xbox Live was somehow corrupted. We are currently working with Microsoft to remove the existing file off of Live to prevent any further downloads.”

It seems that The Pitt should be coming back to Xbox Live tonight, hopefully without any other problems. The second DLC piece of content for Fallout 3 costs 9.99 dollars or 800 Microsoft Points.

The add-on brings a new quest, more branching than the previous Operation: Anchorage and offers players a chance to explore the decayed ruins of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There, the protagonist has to solve some issues with Raders, Slavers and, of course, slaves.

The launch problems do not bode well for Broken Steel, the last piece of DLC that Bethesda has announced it plans to release sometime next month. Whereas Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt only added limited content, Broken Steel will allow gamers to continue playing past the ending of the initial release of Fallout 3, while also increasing the level cap to 30 from the original 20.
