Since its release, the Wii has had only childish titles, except Resident Evil 4 maybe...

Why is the Wii so popular? Being a Nintendo console, at least one of its game titles had to be Mario, I mean it is the mascot and all that, so it couldn't have missed its entry on the next gen-console. The thing is that more and more bad mouths have started to make criticizing statements about the Wii and its lack of more mature titles.

As a next-gen console, it has a very powerful graphics card and everything else has been pushed to the limits like sounds and processing speed, so because of this, "some" expect the machine to run serious life-like titles. But is that necessary? Why on Earth would Nintendo change the all-time winning recipe just because a handful of people want more "mature" titles for the console?

Even the architecture of the Wii machine screams "kiddies' console." It was clearly Nintendo's plan from the early beginnings and a good one at that too, because even if you play Mario at age 40, it's still because children's demand made it possible. On the other hand, if they want more "mature" titles, why didn't they just buy a PlayStation gaming system or an Xbox 360? They appeal grown up consumers pretty well by filling up title lists with nothing but violent, futuristic and fantastic titles that, one way or the other make it to the "M" category. Even the PSP has some "M" rated games so there are limitless choices out there but they have nothing better to do than criticize.

I think it's safe to say that Nintendo's goal of appealing the young public will always prove to be the right one, and they're keeping it that way for sure, not changing strategy for almost two decades. So give it a rest people, if you want mature go for something else than the Wii.
