Judging by the high number of such devices that were announced recently, wireless speaker systems seem to be the next big craze in the audio market, the Danish manufacturer Libratone being the latest to offer such products with the Beat, a wireless speaker that is designed especially for Apple devices.

As a result, the Libratone is bundled together with a wireless transmitter that connects to your iPod, iPad or iPhone via the Apple proprietary 30-pin connector and can stream music up to 30 feet away.

Furthermore, the speaker can also be used together with a USB transmitter that can be connected to any personal computer (either Mac or PC), thus extending the effective range to a pretty impressive 100 feet.

Once it reaches the Beat, music will be spread throughout the room thanks to Libratone's FullRoom technology, the speaker being able to output a maximum of 100W, thanks to the 50W subwoofer and two 25W midrange drivers and ribbon tweeters packed inside its cashmere wool finished enclosure.

"Libratone Beat works like an acoustic instrument filling the entire room with sound. The speaker disperses sound in different directions, reflecting it off the walls, providing 360 degree sound.

This means you are always in the so-called sweet spot. We call it FullRoom sound," explains Jes Mosgaard, CTO at Libratone.

"Why should quality sound only be the privilege of hi-fi enthusiasts and professionals? We wanted to make amazing audio experiences available for a much larger demographic. We want to set the music free," concluded the company's rep.

Libratone Beat will be available in the Apple Online Store in December 2010 and in Apple Retail Stores in the beginning of 2011.

The standard slate gray will be priced at $720 while the cashmere color models, which are available in blood orange, vanilla beige and blueberry black, will be retailed for $785. (via Audioholics)
