Video game publisher Take Two has announced a set of very good financial results for the fiscal year that was with both revenue and profits increasing significantly over the previous period and now the company is looking to the future and to the projects that will power its rise in the coming year.

NBA 2K11 did very well last year and has gone past the 5 million copies sold mark since launch, in part because it did not face any clear competition from NBA Elite 11, the EA Sports project that was canned because it lacked quality.

This year, Take Two believes that NBA 2K12 will perform as well if not better and the company believes that an NBA lockout will not affect sales of the video game in any way.

Strauss Zelnick, who is the chief executive officer of Take Two, has stated during a call with investors, that, “I think it's fair to say that a lockout wouldn't be a good thing. But it's hard to know what will happen. Whatever effects of the lockout are not, because we don't know what those would be, we can't really quantify them.”

The company also believes that BioShock Infinite, the game that is being developed at Irrational Games, will manage to satisfy those who are already engaged with the BioShock series and will get new players to look at the franchise.

Karl Slatoff, who is the chief operations officer at the publisher, said, “It is fantastic having Ken re-engaged. Ken is obviously doing something very different with the franchise that hasn't been done before, and that's a good thing. It's a highly, highly creative endeavor, and we're thrilled to be in business with Ken and having him at the helm again at BioShock.”

Ken Levine thought up the idea of the first BioShock game and led its development but was not directly involved in the second game in the series.
