TRENDnet has just announced that it has updated its product portfolio to feature a new 450Mbps dual band wireless N USB adapter which comes as a great update path for desktop and laptop computers that rely on older 150Mbps or 54Mbps Wi-Fi hardware.

TRENDnet's wireless N adapter is also known as the TEW-684UB and connects to the computer via an empty USB port.

Once the two devices are linked together, all that the user has to do is press the WPS button on the adapter and the TEW-684UB will automatically build a secure connection between itself and the Wi-Fi router.

All the traffic that is generated afterwards will then be prioritized according to its importance by using the Quality of Service (QoS) technology.

“In the highly competitive Networking market space, it is fairly difficult to be the first to market with new technology,” stated Pei Huang, president and CEO of TRENDnet.

“Thanks to the dedication of all TRENDnet employees, we have brought to market, not only the first 450 Mbps USB adapter, but also the first 450 Mbps router, 450 Mbps Ethernet adapter, and 450 Mbps access point.

“Now for the first time, TRENDnet gives consumers the opportunity to network all of their devices to a high speed 450 Mbps network,” concluded the company's rep.

In order to achieve the impressive transfer speeds boasted by TRENDnet, the TEW-684UB uses the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology.

This features three spatial streams per antenna to reach a total theoretical bandwidth of 450Mbps.

The 450Mbps dual band Wireless N USB Adapter should be available right now for purchase and carries a recommended price tag of $79.99 US.

TRENDnet's adapter comes bundled together with a three foot USB extension cable and features a three-year limited warranty.
