Lately TRENDnet has started updating its product line to feature 450Mbps wireless N connectivity, and the latest product to come with this improved transfer speed is the TEW-687GA Wireless N Gaming Adapter, that has now become available from the company's online and retail partners.

As its name implies, this device is designed in order to connect a computer, network console or HDTV to your wireless network, without having to give up on the high throughput offered by wired Ethernet.

The impressive transfer speeds are achieved thanks to the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technology that uses three spatial streams per antenna for providing up to 450Mbps (although TRENDnet says that it only achieved 200Mbps during their in-house tests).

“TRENDnet was first to market with a 450Mbps wireless router and now with a 450Mbps adapter,” stated Zak Wood, director of Global Marketing for TRENDnet.

“Consumers can now, for the first time, connect their media centers and gaming consoles to a 450Mbps wireless network—the highest performing wireless network on the market today.

With the proliferation of network enabled devices, streaming video to the home, and rich media content, a 450Mbps TRENDnet wireless network will not be the bottleneck in a home network,” concluded the company's rep.

In addition, setup is as simple as it gets as the adapter integrates a WPS button that takes care of building a secure connection between the router and the device.

To further enhance its multimedia capabilities, the TEW-687GA employs Quality of Service (QoS) technology to prioritize network traffic such as gaming, Internet calls, and video streams.

The 450Mbps Wireless N Gaming Adapter should be available right now for purchase and carries a recommended price of U.S. $149.99.

Unfortunately, the high price tag is pretty hard to be justified considering that the adapter packs just one Ethernet port, allowing for only one device to be connected at a time.
