14 DAY TRIAL // Although TELUS already confirmed it will carry Sony Ericsson's Xperia ray, the Canadian carrier did not reveal any release dates for the smartphone.
TELUS let its customers know that the Xperia ray is “coming for the holiday season,” but has yet to make the phone available for purchase.
However, it appears that the guys over at MobileSyrup have been invited to the official launch event, which is scheduled on November 2.
According to this invitation the Xperia ray is expected to arrive in stores around the same date, but no price options for the handset emerged yet.
Sony Ericsson Xperia ray was unveiled in June and hit shelves in August. The phone is now available for purchase in multiple countries, including the United States, India, Australia and the U.K.
Even though TELUS' price tag has yet to be revealed, the smartphone should be valued at around $400 (about 292 EUR).
The Xperia ray is a mid-budget smartphone that comes with a 3.3-inch LED-backlit LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 480 x 854 pixels resolution, based on Sony's Bravia Mobile engine.
Furthermore, the device is powered by a 1GHz single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor, complemented by an Adreno 205 graphics processing unit.
As we already reported, Xperia ray runs Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with Timescape users interface and access to more than 250,000 apps via Android Market.
The smartphone packs 1 GB of internal memory, but only 300 MB user available, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32 GB, 4GB memory card included).
It also boasts an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, face and smile detection, touch focus, image stabilization, and HD (720p) video recording capabilities, as well as a secondary front facing camera.
It is also worth mentioning that Xperia ray's 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 430 hours of standby time or up to 7 hours of talk time.
