Canadian mobile phone carrier TELUS has made available for purchase on its airwaves a new smartphone running under Google's Android operating system, namely the HTC Desire HD.

The new smartphone was put on sale at the wireless carrier with various contract options, as well as free of contract, with a price tag of $499.99 attached to it.

In case there are some who would like to get the new device with a contract agreement with the carrier, they can opt for a 3-year agreement, priced at $149.99, for a 2-year deal, at $399.99, or for a one-year option, with the device priced at $449.99.

“With a huge HD touchscreen, amazing speeds for gaming, apps, browsing and multiple device mobile Wi-Fi hotspot capability, the Android 2.2 powered HTC Desire HD will impress you,” TELUS explains.

The HTC Desire HD features a 4.3-inch WVGA Super LCD touchscreen display, with a 1GHz application processor packed inside, and with 1.5 GB of internal memory.

The smartphone also includes a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space (an 8GB card included in the box), as well as various connectivity capabilities, such as HSPA 850/1900 (14.4/5.76 Mbps), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB, or 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The specifications list of this mobile phone also includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper, Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, Adobe Flash 10.1 support, and the HTC Sense user experience.

The Android 2.2 Froyo OS that powers this device offers a series of additional features too, including:
