Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is expected to announce officially at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona a new Desire HD device, more powerful than the first one, but which should retaining the same looks, it seems.

According to leaked info that emerged over at Pocketnow, the upcoming mobile phone should sport a 4.3-inch touchscreen display that would boast a qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, with a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon application processor packed inside (with 3D acceleration: Adreno 205 included into the mix as well).

The specifications list of this mobile phone would also include an 8-megapixel photo snapper, with support for 1080p video recording, auto focus and LED flash. The handset would also offer support for HD video playback.

The so called Desire HD2 would also arrive on shelves with 512MB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for additional storage space.

Among the other specifications of this device, we can also note support for 3G networks, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, microUSB connector, 3,5 mm headphone jack, HDMI out, and WiFi Hotspot capabilities.

The upcoming mobile phone should also include the full range of sensors, such as proximity sensor, light sensor, or accelerometer. Moreover, built-in GPS receiver should also be included into the mix, as well as geo tagging capabilities.

As expected, the smartphone would also offer enhanced web browsing features, as well as support for fast access to social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, Skype integration, a multimedia player, or Office Document Viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

According to the leaked info, the new device should be released with HTC Sense 3.0 on board, as well as with support for various messaging features, including SMS, MMS, IM, or email. The phone should run under Google's Android OS.

No official confirmation on this smartphone is available for the time being, but rumor has it that HTC would make a formal announcement as soon as next week during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, so keep an eye on this space to learn more on the matter.
