One may think that a pink phone may be preferred by women mostly, but the newly announced pink TELUS BlackBerry Curve 9360 is in the center of the carrier's Facebook campaign for early detection research and treatment of breast cancer.

For each customer who purchases a pink BlackBerry Curve 9360, TELUS will donate $25 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Research in Motion's pink BlackBerry Curve 9360 is now available for purchase for as low as $49.99 (about 38 EUR) with a new three-year agreement.

In addition, those who want to contribute to the campaign can visit TELUS official Facebook webpage and create a photo gallery of their breast friends.

TELUS will donate $1 for each gallery created by each visitor. The carrier plans to raise $250,000 from the Facebook campaign by the end of the year.

Two pink accessories are also available for purchase to help with the fund raising, a BlackBerry original soft shell and a Wicked Audio Metallics stereo wired headset.

Every time one of these two accessories is sold TELUS will contribute $5 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

This is not the first time that TELUS supports the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, as the carrier has contributed $4.35 million to breast cancer detection, treatment and research, since 2008.

The carrier's goal for this year is to raise $400,000, which includes its Facebook campaign, along with sales of the pink BlackBerry Curve 9360 smartphone and the two pink accessories, for early detection research and treatment.

On related news, Samsung Netherlands has recently launched a Pink Ribbon Edition of Galaxy S Plus and Chat 335 handsets to support breast cancer awareness.

Even though both phones are available in white color, they both come with pink themes pre-installed and a small pink ribbon logo on the back cover.
