Singer is reportedly enthusiastic about the collaboration

Earlier this year, Amy Winehouse and Duffy were believed to be the strongest contenders to sing the theme song for the upcoming “James Bond” film. Whether this was accurate or not, another name was added to the list, with industry insiders saying that, this time, this is a sure winner: Britain’s Got Talent alum Susan Boyle.

ContactMusic has it from very reliable sources that Miss Boyle is in the running for the theme song for the next 007 flick, which is truly something to be proud of since only consecrated artists are awarded this honor, they say. The movie studio has reportedly already contacted Susan with an offer to perform the theme song, and she is more than thrilled about the prospect, especially since she’s been offered assurances that her voice has just the amount of “timelessness” needed for the track.

“Susan Boyle is being tipped to record the next James Bond theme song. The Scottish star – who shot to fame earlier this year after finishing runner-up on UK reality TV contest Britain’s Got Talent – is said to be thrilled at the prospect of being chosen for to lend her voice to the movie, which stars Daniel Craig and is due out in 2011,” ContactMusic says citing sources well familiar with the production.

“Monty Norman, composer of the classic 007 theme music, thinks Susan would be a ‘great’ choice. He said: ‘They’ll think seriously because she’s got the right kind of sweeping voice.’ Lee Pfeiffer co-author of ‘The Essential James Bond’ book, described Susan as ‘a throwback to those great days when the likes of Dame Shirley Bassey would be asked to sing’,” the same music-oriented publication goes on to say.

As we were also telling you back in May, when talk of who will perform the theme song first started making the rounds, Amy Winehouse could be too much of a risk for the movie studio, especially since she was asked once before too and eventually bailed out. In other words, Winehouse is seen as too unreliable for a gig of this magnitude, which only leaves Duffy in the running. Nevertheless, with a voice like Susan Boyle’s at their disposition, it’s not hard to see why they should choose her over Duffy, speculation goes.
