While approximately half a year ago, Susan Boyle was a name that rang no bells with the media and the general public, today, she is one of the most appreciated and beloved singers to break in the spotlight in many years. Miss Boyle is so immensely popular she even got her own television special, the “I Dreamed a Dream: The Susan Boyle Story” ITV one-hour show, an experience she calls “humbling” in a new interview with People magazine.

Asked by the popular magazine whether fame has changed her life in any way, in the sense if it’s entirely different from what it used to be before she presented herself to auditions for Britain’s Got Talent, Miss Boyle insists she’s still the same. In all fairness, this is not the first time that the singer, much loved for being so down to earth and relatable, says that fame hasn’t affected her in ways it gets to others who get their big break in the industry.

“I go home to Scotland. I take time out. I see my friends and family. I shop in the local shops. I always say that I take baby steps anyway so that I can handle each step as it comes along. I still have my former life. I still live in the same house. My life hasn’t changed. I travel more. I see places I never thought I would see. There is nothing I miss because I have everything I had before – it’s just a little more interesting now,” Susan Boyle says for People.

If anything, this past year has been an amazing experience for the singer who, until recently, lived in her small Scotland town and only sang for churchgoers. Now, with her debut album still atop the international charts, Miss Boyle gets to see 2009 culminate with her getting her own show, a very humbling and delightful moment in her life, one that she will most likely never forget.

“It’s a very humbling experience. I loved every second of it. I finally feel like the dream is a reality. When the show was made I can honestly say that it was the best two days of my life. The producer, Nigel Hall, made me a beautiful show,” Miss Boyle says of shooting the ITV special. As for the message she’d like to send out to the world using her own example, the singer has this to say: “To anyone who has a dream I say follow that dream. You are never too old. It is never too late. And dreams can become a reality.”
