According to leaked documents

BlackBerry Storm2, the second touchscreen device from the Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion, was officially unveiled a few days ago, and a series of carriers around the world already started to announce the upcoming availability of the device on their airwaves, with Verizon Wireless being the only operator late to the party.

However, there are great chances that the Storm2 will actually make it to the carrier's offering, at least this is what is shown on some newly leaked internal documents from Big Red, which made it into the wild via CrackBerry. It seems that in the end Verizon might be able to launch the new touchscreen-enabled handset from RIM on October 28.

In case some of you might have missed the latest posts on Storm2, we should mention that Verizon was rumored at one point to have delayed the launch due to some technicalities, yet the handset popped up recently on the carrier's website, suggesting that things might have been fixed in the meantime. However, Verizon hasn't made any official announcements on the second Storm smartphone, and no release date has been unveiled or confirmed until now.

For what it's worth, October 28 might prove to be the lucky day in the end, as there are two different documents from Verizon that point towards it as the launch date. Dummy Storm2 models already arrived at the carrier, as well as at Best Buy, so it should be only a matter of days before the phone will make an official appearance on the shelves.

One the other hand, we should not hold our breath on this one, since Verizon is expected to make another announcement on October 28, one related to the Android-based Motorola Droid, and it might not consider making two big launches during the same day. However, October 28 is only five days ahead, so stay tuned to learn how things will actually turn out.
