It was only this morning that we saw BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 showing up on the BlackBerry official website, and now the device is already available for pre-order on Vodafone. According to the wireless carrier, the new handset will become available via its airwaves in seven countries in Europe as well as in South Africa.

Starting today, those interested in purchasing the second touchscreen handset from Research In Motion will find it available for pre-order on Vodafone's website, and, starting with October 26, the device will also start to be shipped to users. “In the busy holiday gift buying period, customers in the UK and Ireland will be able to get the new smartphone first through Vodafone, and it will be offered exclusively by Vodafone in Germany, Netherlands and Spain. It will also be made available in France, Italy and South Africa in time for Christmas,” the carrier states.

The specification list of the device is something you should already be aware of, yet there is something that should still be noted, namely that the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 Vodafone will bring to its customers comes with BlackBerry OS 5, as well as with support for BlackBerry Internet Service and BlackBerry Enterprise Server, and access to the BlackBerry App World.

It’s not only the second Storm that comes with enhanced capabilities; the new BlackBerry OS 5 is also set to deliver new features to users, including a more responsive experience, inertial scrolling, spin boxes, an improved BlackBerry Browser with faster JavaScript and CSS processing, as well as better typing accuracy and selection. Moreover, Vodafone's users will also benefit from the carrier's music client, as well as from a media player that enables them to enjoy videos, pictures and music.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 will also enjoy new features, enabling users to: - Set follow-up Flags on the handset like they can in Microsoft® Office Outlook® - Manage Microsoft Exchange email folders (Add, Rename, Move, Delete) on the handset - Access remote file shares (Windows Shares); Save, View, Edit, and Email documents from remote file shares - Forward appointments and view calendar attachments on the handset - Benefit from wireless sync improvements for Contacts, including sync for multiple contact folders, personal Distribution Lists and contacts in Public/Shared folders.

The new BlackBerry Storm2 will come to Vodafone UK for free upon the signing of a 24-month contract agreement with the carrier on a plan that starts at £35 per month (600 minutes talk-time, unlimited BlackBerry Internet Service, unlimited text messaging, and unlimited access to Vodafone Mobile Internet and broadband). The carrier will announce pricing for other countries via individual in-country operating companies.
