Recently, Starbucks has announced the launch of a new application, the Starbucks Card Mobile application for BlackBerry smartphones.

The company launched its mobile solution for the first time for iPhone and iPod touch, and now has got it released for RIM's BlackBerry smartphones, the first time the solution lands on other platform that iOS.

According to the company, the launch of this app is the result of positive feedback it received from mobile phone users out there.

The new software solution was made available for free for BlackBerry phone users, though one would have to re-fill it with money just as he/she would do with a credit card.

“Just enter your Starbucks Card number and your BlackBerry Tour, Curve or Storm becomes your Starbucks Card. You can register your card, check your balance and track the Stars you earn toward free beverages through My Starbucks Rewards,” the company notes.

The new application is meant to offer users the possibility to: - Check their Starbucks Card balance - Reload Starbucks Card account with any major credit card - Pay for Starbucks purchases using the mobile payment feature in more than 1,000 Starbucks in U.S. Target stores and in 16 trial stores in Seattle and Northern California. - Find nearby Starbucks stores with a store locator feature - Check their My Starbucks Rewards status According to the company, these five main features of the application were designed to offer customers the possibility to save money and to access their Starbucks Card and My Starbucks Rewards information straight from the handset.

One can use the new Starbucks Card Mobile application to pay for various products, all easy and fast, the company notes.

The new BlackBerry software is compatible with the following devices: BlackBerry 8800, 8820; BlackBerry Bold 9000, 9650, 9700; BlackBerry Curve 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330, 8350i, 8520, 8530, 8900; BlackBerry Storm 9530; BlackBerry Storm2 9550; BlackBerry Tour 9630.
