Recently, wireless carrier TELUS announced that it plans on launching the new BlackBerry Torch 9800 handset on its airwaves come September 24th, and also unveiled that it would offer a few more features for its BlackBerry users.

Among these features, we can count carrier billing for the BlackBerry App World, a feature that Research In Motion already announced as being set to emerge along with the new version of its application portal.

“TELUS is excited to be the first carrier in Canada to offer clients the ability to pay for their BlackBerry App World purchases on their mobile phone bill as well as through credit card payment,” the wireless carrier announced via a press-release.

Basically, this would offer users the possibility to purchase applications from RIM's software portal while having them included in their monthly bill with the wireless carrier.

Moreover, it seems that the feature is not restricted to the launch of BlackBerry Torch, and that TELUS' customers should be able to enjoy it before the new smartphone arrives at the carrier.

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is the latest handset from RIM, packing a sliding design and putting together a touchscreen display with a QWERTY keyboard.

The handset has been already launched on the market in the United States, and should become available for purchase in Canada starting with September 24 on the airwaves four wireless carriers, including TELUS.

“Both business and consumer customers will get an incredible mobile experience from the new BlackBerry Torch smartphone,” said Brent Johnston, vice-president of Mobility Solutions at TELUS.

“TELUS is pleased to bring the BlackBerry Torch to Canadians, which will allow them to easily stay connected, entertained and informed wherever they are while running on our blazing fast 3G+ network.”

The smartphone runs under the latest RIM OS, BlackBerry 6, which includes a nice range of new features, such as universal search, an enhanced multimedia experience, a new Internet browser, and a series of user interface changes.
