What, it's Final Fantasy you want again? Put a sock in it will you? All we hear today is Final Fantasy this, Final Fantasy that, Pokemon, Mario, oh and let's not forget about all the Zelda case mods. It was about time for Square Enix to come up with something new, and "The Last Remnant" is what they came up with. Siliconera has some details on the game. Here's an excerpt:

"This latest RPG of Square-Enix will be a single player RPG that is directed by Hiroshi Takai who's better known for his role as game planner in The Bouncer and will feature two characters who will appeal to each of the game's audience; Rush (traditional Square-Enix hero) will appeal to the Japanese gaming audience, and The Conqueror (dark/anti-hero) will appeal to the Western gaming audience. The best part of this new IP? It'll make use of the Unreal Engine 3 which Square-Enix licensed a while back."

So from starters we can understand that it's not another FF game, as this one's a single player (thank God for that). Naturally, they also had to do something not to lose FF fans and thus implemented the game with Rush, as a main character.

The game's director, Hiroshi Takai says: "Rush is the main character of this game. He was designed with the traditional SE RPG style in mind, but the players' impression of him will likely change once they advance in the game. You can expect a lot of plot twists involving him."

No word on the launching platforms for The Last Remnant though. We'll have more details for you in just under a week.
