Trained employees to sign an NDA

According to the latest news on the Web, mobile phone carrier Sprint is set to start training its employees on the upcoming Palm Pre as soon as May 7. There have been previous rumors about the operator planning to start the move back in April, yet it seems that at that time the company was only looking for store advocates, and this time the training will start for sure.

As many of you already know, both Palm and Sprint have kept under deep silence any details regarding the possible launch date for the high-end mobile phone, which until now led to a large amount of rumors regarding the possible release date for the Pre, though with no solid answer unveiled to the world, even if the phone can be seen both on Palm's website as well as on Sprint's.

Given the fact that Sprint employees will start finding out things about the handset, and get some more info on the release date as well, PreThinking says that they will have to sign an NDA before leaving the training room. At the same time, they are also asked to leave behind things like phones, ipods, cameras and the likes, meaning that the secrecy on the launch might be kept from now on as well.

Before the training actually begins, it seems that the following speech will be delivered to the operator's employees: “As I’m sure you are already aware, the details of the Pre phone have been a closely guarded secret, and we’re proud of that. We’re excited to have reached a point where we can now share with you the details you need to know to support the product. However, this does not mean that our level of security has changed. In fact, we’re asking you to join the ranks of people who will keep the secret.”

Even with such strict rules, it is highly probable that some more details on the phone will become available as soon as the training starts. At the same time, given the fact that the trainings should begin May 7, the move gives a little more consistency to recent rumors that the Pre might actually get released into the wild on June 7, or at least that something will happen on that date. We reported before that Best Buy would make some sort of a trial launch for the Pre on that day, but we can also hope for more.
