It seems that the avalanche of rumors regarding the launch of Plam's Pre phone might have finally settled for a single day for the release, which would be June 7. According to the latest news on the web, this is the day when Best Buy says it will have 4,500 units of the device in its possession and will show them to the world.

As many of you might already know, previous reports pointed towards the fact that Sprint intended to make the Palm Pre available for pre-order one month before its actual release, and it seems that the June 7 date is when users will be able to start ordering it in advance. As for the handsets that will reach Best Buy, they are reported to be some sort of demo units, at least one of them going to each store, so as to determine people to pre-order the phone.

In addition to the aforementioned date, it seems that Best Buy also hinted at a price tag for the device, which would be of $200 with a two-year contract agreement. Considering that the iPhone, Pre's main competitor, is priced the same, Palm's handset has great chances of turning into a successful phone after all. At the same time, Best Buy also unveiled the fact that current Sprint customers who were upgrading would have to pay $300 for the Pre.

For what it's worth, we're still waiting for an official confirmation on said release date, as well as on the price tag for the phone. According to BGR, Best Buy will only make a trial launch on June 7, though we hope that it will actually be the release date, given the fact that Sprint promised that the Palm Pre would be launched during the first half of the year. Stay tuned to learn more details as they emerge.
