Wireless carrier Sprint has just announced the release of a new software update for its Samsung Moment mobile phone, namely maintenance update DJ07.

According to the release notes for this solution, users would benefit only from some fixes after installing the update, with no other enhancement being included in the package.

As for these fixes, here's what Sprint says in a recent post on its community forums:

- 911 call restrictions after modem crash related to airplane mode and data lockup - Proximity sensor and screen lock enhancements According to the wireless carrier, the new firmware update would be delivered to users over the air, and should be automatically downloaded to handsets.

As soon as the software was downloaded, users would be notified on the matter, being prompted to either install the solution right away, or delay its installation.

Says Sprint: If 'Install later' is selected, a reminder will be sent once or twice a day to install the update If 'Install now' is selected, the phone will restart and install the software

As soon as the software was installed, the handset should reboot again, so that the update process is completed.

Beside the installation instructions, Sprint also brought to users' attention some other aspects, including:

- The new software version is: S:M900.8.OS.xxxx (see below) - The new build number is: Eclair:DJ07 - If upgrading OTA (over-the-air), the Baseband version and Build number will not match. (Menu > Settings > About phone). Below is an example of what you will see if you upgraded to DJ07 OTA and you were previously on version DI06: Baseband version – S:M900.8.OS.DI06; Build number - ECLAIR. DJ07 - This update will be available through computer download on 11/3. The computer download will be available via sprint.com downloads and can be accessed at: http://shop.sprint.com/en/software_downloads/pda_smartphone/samsung_moment.shtml

We should also note that the software update should already pop up on Samsung Moment devices out there. However, Sprint did not announce how long it would take for it to deliver the solution to all of its users.
