Mobile phone carrier Sprint has just announced the availability of new software meant to expand the personalization options its Android customers benefit from, called the Sprint Relay ID pack.

Through it, users would benefit from a wide range of applications, links, tips, icons, widgets and wallpapers that would change the looks of their handsets.

According to Sprint, the new pack would arrive on devices with voice mail transcripts, visual and vibrating alerts, along with readable captions, and other stuff as well, all inside a single download.

This is the first bundle that arrives at Sprint with multiple applications targeted at the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing communities.

The new Sprint Relay ID pack was made available for Android handsets like LG Optimus S, Sanyo Zio, Samsung Transform, and Samsung Epic 4G, as well as for Samsung Galaxy Tab, the carrier explains.

The new ID pack comes with the following applications inside:

Sprint Mobile Video Relay Services – video relay services for sign language users Calendar Notifier – provides visual alerts and repeating reminders of calendar events Handcent SMS – visual alerts and notifications of texts VideoPlayer – captions on videos downloaded to a secure digital (SD) card Gmail Notifier – visual and vibrating alerts and reminders for your gmail email TuneWiki – to read and learn the lyrics to songs Captionfish.com – captioned movies playing in a customer’s area AIM Instant Messenger – access telephone relay services through AIM Buddy 'SprintIP' Google Voice – transcribe audio messages left on voice mail into text

For those out of the loop, we should note that Sprint is already recognized as a leading Telecommunications Relay Service provider.

According to Mike Ellis, director - Sprint Relay Service, the newly released Sprint Relay ID pack was meant to the needs of an important segment of the US population, and also proves that Sprint can take corporate responsibility for disabilities.

“Sprint has provided relay capabilities for more than 20 years, and we’re pleased to now make it even easier for people who have trouble hearing on the phone to use their mobile phones,” Mike Ellis continues. Sprint users can download a number of up to five ID packs on their Android-based mobile phones, and also have the opportunity to easily move back and forth between them. These packs are available for a free download with an Everything Data plan.
