Mobile phone carrier Sprint has just announced the launch of a new eco-friendly device on its airwaves, the Samsung Replenish, set to make an official appearance on its network as soon as May 8th, at a quite affordable price tag.

According to the wireless carrier, the new device will become available for purchase for just $49.99 upon the signing of a two-year service agreement and new-line activation or eligible upgrade.

Samsung Replenish will be released on shelves at Sprint as an Android touch QWERTY smartphone that would also offer support for the company's Sprint ID.

In addition to launching the new environmentally friendly device, Sprint announced that it is waiving the $10 monthly premium data add-on charge for all those who will chose it, which should appeal better to customers.

“We want to make it as simple as we can for our customers to go green with a robust selection of products and competitive pricing,” said Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO.

“Samsung Replenish is as green as we could make it with more than 80 percent recyclable materials, housed in partially recycled plastics, energy efficient and built with fewer environmentally sensitive materials.

“As if this is not enough incentive, we are also lowering the monthly rate for this phone by $10 for new or existing customers so it pays for itself within just five months.”

Samsung Replenish is the first eco-friendly Aandorid-based mobile phone launched on Sprint's airwaves. It is partially built with recycled plastics and recyclable packaging.

The specifications list of the new device includes 2.8-inch QVGA main display, complemented by a QWERTY keyboard, 2MP camera and camcorder, with fast uploads to YouTube, Photobucket, Facebook, MySpace, or Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities.

Moreover, the new device comes with a Solar door charging accessory (sold separately) , a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, and Android 2.2 Froyo OS.

The new Samsung Replenish should arrive on shelves in three colors, Onyx Black, Arctic Blue and Raspberry Pink (in June).

in addition to launching the new device, Sprint announced the availability of a new Sprint ID pack, the Green ID pack, which can deliver unmatched eco-focused Android experience, enabling users live green, shop green, recycle and more.

"Sprint’s new Green Sprint ID pack provides instant personalization in a single download with apps, widgets and mobile shortcuts on the user’s device, and it features apps from eco-conscious favorites such as TreeHugger.com, Earth911.com, Green America and the National Audubon Society," the carrier announced.

"Starting today owners of select Sprint devices, including Samsung Transform, Samsung Epic 4G and Samsung Galaxy Tab, can load the Green ID pack onto their device. Samsung Replenish will offer the Green ID pack when it launches on May 8. Like all other Sprint ID packs, the Green ID pack is free to download with Sprint’s Everything Data plan."
