Before the end of this month, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is set to bring to the market it newest Android flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S II, and some more info on the performance capabilities of this device started to emerge.

Apparently, the dual-core 1.2GHz processor inside the device has already helped it to score 3,053 on a Quadrant benchmark, which is quite impressive.

Of course, the test might not be as accurate as one might want it to be, especially when it comes to dual-core application processors, but it still enables us to make an idea of what the device has to offer.

For those who might have missed some of the latest reports on this device, we should note that it is expected to land on shelves is come markets in late April, though it would be widely available only in May.

Initially unveiled with a 1GHz application processor inside, the handset was pushed back a few weeks, as the company has upgraded its application processor to the said 1.2GHz speeds.

Compared to other devices, the new Samsung Galaxy S II is expected to deliver a better experience, though it is not the only smartphone that would sport the enhanced processor speeds (HTC has just launched Sensation with the same CPU speeds).

The handset packs an Exynos 4210 CPU with both cores clocked in at 1.2GHz (ex-Orion), and a Mali-400 MP GPU, but another version of it arrives on shelves with an nVidia Tegra 2 chip inside.

All in all, it appears that the new mobile phone would indeed be able to impress users a lot, just as its predecessor, the Galaxy S, did last year.

The Samsung Galaxy S II also comes on the market with a large touchscreen display, an 8MP camera on the back with HD video recording capabilities, WiFi, GPS receiver, and more. It runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform.
