14 DAY TRIAL // Although expected to become available for purchase in June, the Sony Ericsson Xperia pro will not be put for sale until late July, the mobile phone maker's online store shows. The Xperia pro was unveiled to the world back in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, along with the Xperia PLAY and Xperia neo.
Due to the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March, Sony Ericsson had to delay the launch of Xperia pro and Xperia neo by a few months, and the Xperia PLAY was the only one of the three to already arrive on shelves, though it was pushed back in some markets as well.
The Xperia pro was made available for pre-order on Sony Ericsson's store in the UK with a price tag of £349.99 attached to it, but it will not arrive in users' hands before late July, the company notes.
The mobile phone runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and sports a sliding form factor, with a physical QWERTY meant to enable faster typing while on the go.
The same as Xperia neo, the mobile phone sports a fast application processor inside, along with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 854 x 480 pixels resolution, and HD video recording courtesy of the Exmor R for mobile CMOS sensor Sony Ericsson packed it with.
The handset also sports 320MB of internal memory, along with up to 32GB of external memory via a microSD memory card slot, and a battery that can offer up to 7 hours of talk time, or up to 430 hours of standby time.
The Xperia pro comes with support for 3G networks, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, built-in GPS receiver, support for various Google Mobile services, and access to the Android Market for downloading and installing applications.
