Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, one of the new mobile phones that leading handset vendor Sony Ericsson unveiled to the world in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is expected to arrive on shelves in France under the name of Xperia kyno. The new name was chosen by Sony Ericsson fans in the country, the company announced, adding that the device would land on shelves in July 2011.

Last month, Sony Ericsson launched a contest in France, asking fans to choose a new name for the handset. The finalists were Xperia steady and Xperia kyno, and the latter won it the end.

No other changes were brought to the mobile phone, the Japanese-Swedish handset vendor announced.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia kyno is expected to arrive on shelves with Google's Android operating system on board, just as other new devices from the company do.

The smartphone would arrive on shelve with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, capable of delivering a 854 x 480 pixels (FWVGA) resolution, the Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine as on other new Sony Ericsson handsets.

It also packs a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 application processor, as well as 320MB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space (an 8GB card included in the package).

The Sony Ericsson Xperia kyno lands with an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper on the back (Sony’s Exmor R for mobile), with auto focus LED flash, and HD video recording (720p) capabilities.

Moreover, it arrives with support for WiFi connectivity, a Bluetooth capabilities, 3G, built-in GPS receiver, DLNA, HDMI support and USB mass storage, as well as 3.5mm headphone jacks and FM Radio. The smartphone measures 116.0 x 57.0 x 13.0 mm and weighs in at 126.0 grams.

No info on the price tag the Sony Ericsson Xperia kyno will arrive in France with emerged for the time being. (via)
