Sony Ericsson has been rumored the past two days to be ramping up for the release of a series of new mobile phones. While the release part has proven to be true, the devices that have been launched on the market were different than what we were expecting to see. Thus, it turned out that no XPERIA X2, X3 and X5 came to the market, but the company introduced along with AT&T two new, rather attractive mobile phones, the Sony Ericsson C905a Cyber-shot and the W518a Walkman.

Although some enthusiasts were certainly disappointed, the new devices that will come to the US market via AT&T still have all that it takes to impress in the good way. According to the wireless carrier, the Sony Ericsson C905a Cyber-shot marks a first for the company, as it has no other mobile phone that boasts an 8.1-megapixel photo snapper. At the same time, the new W518a comes with the “Shake Control” technology and “Gesture Control” features, which should appeal to users a lot.

When it comes to the specifications list of the first of the new mobile phones, the C905a Cyber-shot, we can count the xenon flash, auto-focus and video-capture capabilities that come along with the 8MP photo snapper, as well as the Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band HSDPA connectivity options, not to mention the scratch-resistant mineral glass display, FM Radio, Bluetooth, the GPS receiver, or the Memory Stick Micro (M2) that offers support for up to 16GB.

The device in itself looks great, we might add, and the new photos that surfaced recently via BGR are meant to show exactly this, so take a look at them to make an idea. In the meantime, we should note that AT&T has put its mark on the phone, and there will be no Wi-Fi capabilities present, nor an Exchange support. Even so, the handset will still come to the shelves on July 19, while sporting a price tag of $179.99 with the signing of a two-year contract and after rebate.

The second mobile phone, Sony Ericsson W518a Walkman, will also come on July 19, and its price tag has been set at $49.99 on a two-year contract and after rebate. Some of the goodies that this device brings to users include the aforementioned “Shake Control” technology, enabling them to shuffle, skip and control volume through the shaking of the phone, and the “Gesture Control,” which allows for incoming calls to be ignored or the alarms to be snoozed through the waving of the hand over the camera lens.
