On November 1st, François Dupoux announced yet another maintenance release of his popular SystemRescueCd Linux-based operating system for rescue and recovery tasks. Besides various system fixes, the new SystemRescueCd 1.6.3 Linux Live CD operating system for rescue tasks, includes the latest stable version of the Linux kernel, an updated version of the XOrg Server, TrueCrypt, and Gparted applications.
Highlights of SystemRescueCd 1.6.3:
· Updated the alternative Linux kernel packages to version 2.6.32.25 (with altker32 and altker64); · Updated TrueCrypt to version 7.0a; · Updated XOrg Server to version 1.9.1; · Updated GParted to version 0.7.0 (this version includes initial support for the Btrfs filesystem, and bug fixes); · Updated Perl package to version 5.12.2; · Added Scrub 2.2, an application to write patterns on file/disk.

On November 2nd, Jared Smith proudly announced the release of Fedora 14, the latest update to the popular Red Hat-sponsored Linux distro. Fedora 14, codenamed Laughlin, comes with a number of new features and changes, as well updated packages. The new features should be of interest more to developers and system admins rather than regular desktop users.
Highlights of Fedora 14:

· On November 3rd, the latest update to the KDE SC has been released. KDE SC 4.5.3 is a minor update, focusing on bug fixes and stability issues. This release includes improvements to the shared data cache and updates to Okular, the default document viewer in KDE, and to the Dolphin file manager. Read more about it here.
· On November 4th, Open-Xchange, an Open Source groupware provider, has announced that its users will increase to more than 24 million, by the end of this year. This means an increase of 60 percent over previous year, all thanks to the SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) growing popularity. Read more about it here.
· On November 4th, Open-Xchange, announced that it continues to add new functionality to Open-Xchange Server, by introducing the Open-Xchange Microsoft Outlook Uploader, which is actually a data migration app especially created for Microsoft Outlook users who want to move their e-mails, appointments, contacts, or tasks to the Open-Xchange Server. · The release schedule for Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) operating system has been modified last week on the Ubuntu wiki. The distribution will still be released at the end of April 2011. The first Alpha version was supposed to be available for testin last Thursday, November 4th, and it is now scheduled for release on December 2nd. Read more about it here.
Review of the Week: Balsa 2.4.8
· Emails are a major part of our day to day life. Dare I say it, they're probably even more important than letter writing was years ago. Finding the right e-mail client for you, that's also able to provide a safe environment for your messages is essential. We're reviewing Balsa so that you can know what to expect from this client and maybe help you decide whether this is the e-mail client you're looking for.
Balsa's e-mail composing editor is friendly, but rather rudimentary. As it doesn't support HTML, it acts like a simple text editor. Other than this, Balsa is fully featured for various e-mailing operations. It supports Cc and Bcc, suggests e-mail addresses as you type them (from the Address book, of course) and takes care of your spelling. When viewing attachments, Balsa uses the standard software attributed to specific file types.
