Today, November 4th, takes place the second annually worldwide Partner Summit, hosted by Open-Xchange, in Cologne, Germany. Softpedia is there, invited by Open-Xchange, to cover the event.

Softpedia is proud to inform you that Open-Xchange, an Open Source groupware provider, has just announced that its users will increase to more than 24 million, by the end of this year. This means an increase of 60 percent over previous year, all thanks to the SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) growing popularity.

"The acceptance and growth of software-as-a-service (SaaS) is leading to explosive growth for our e-mail and collaboration software – and leading the way as the first cloud application for many service providers."

"It’s been an extraordinary year with our SaaS revenues increasing more than 100 percent and overall revenues by 70 percent, as compared with the previous year." - said Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange.

At the summit, Open-Xchange will also preview its web desktop project, which is still in development. This new masterpiece will be introduced next year, and it will use a web browser as the main UI (user interface), in order to provide integration and delivery of applications offered by the service provider.

Among Open-Xchange's worldwide customers, we can mention NEXT IT, MessageWire, Solar VPS, University of Salamanca, NetCologne, EuroDNS, and Sachsen DV.
