One of the most talked about events at this year's Golden Globes awards show was Madonna's winning Best Original Song and Sir Elton John's reaction to it. David Furnish, John's husband, is now apologizing for comments he made shortly after the gala.

As we also noted at the time, Elton John was not pleased to lose to Madonna of whom he even said she “didn't stand a [expletive]-ing chance.”

Moreover, he made sure everybody knew it, not even trying to put on a smiling face when the camera zoomed in on him during her acceptance speech.

However, it was Furnish's comments afterwards that brought the feud into the spotlight: he took to his Facebook page to say that the pop star did not deserve to win because she had no talent.

He's now recanting those initial comments, saying they were said in the heat of the moment – but definitely blow out of proportion by the media because he meant no offense.

“Wow! What a tempest in a teapot,” Furnish writes on his Facebook page, as cited by AceShowbiz.

“My comments regarding The Golden Globes have been blown way out of proportion. My passion for our film 'Gnomeo and Juliet' and belief in Elton's song really got my emotional juices going,” he writes by means of an explanation for the online outburst.

Even if he said some pretty harsh things about Madonna, David wants the world to know that he's not really holding a grudge against her for winning.

Moreover, he actually believes she deserved to take home the award, contrary to how he might have made it sound in the earlier post on the same social networking website.

“But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week's premiere of the film 'W.E.',” Furnish says.

All this time, Madonna has not addressed the controversy and Furnish's insults in any way.
