At last night's Golden Globes 2012, Madonna won the award for Best Original Song for “Masterpiece,” a track she performed on the soundtrack of “W.E.,” the film she wrote and directed. Not everybody in the audience believed she deserved to win.

The first person to say she didn't deserve to take the award home – and to actually predict that she wouldn't – was Sir Elton John, who was also in the running but who obviously did not win.

His longtime partner David Furnish is taking to his Facebook page to vent about the injustice done to John by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which awarded the prizes.

“Madona. Best song???? [Expletive] off!!!!” Furnish writes.

In a later post, he elaborates on his first idea, explaining in general terms why he believes she should have never won the award.

As expected, he doesn't mention John being nominated in the same category and, implicitly, losing out to her.

“Thanks for all your supportive comments and support. Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit,” Furnish writes.

“Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is,” he adds.

As we also informed you earlier today, Sir Elton John and Madonna had a(n indirect) harsh exchange of words even before the gala began, with the British singer telling a reporter she had no chance of winning.

When Madonna was informed of the comment he had made, she replied “May the best man win.”

Since John predicted that she wouldn't win, it's no surprise he made no effort to hide the bitterness he was feeling when the camera zoomed in on him during her acceptance speech, a common practice at most awards these days (see the photo attached to this article).

Below is a video with Madonna's acceptance speech. You be the judge whether it's “embarrassing in its narcissism” or not.
