LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are now officially a couple, putting 2009 scandal behind them

LeAnn Rimes was the celebrity feature in the September 2010 issue of Shape Magazine. Following complains from its readers, the publication is apologizing for putting the singer on the cover.

The issue in question, of which we also told you at the time, showed LeAnn in a red two-piece swimsuit, flaunting her flat abs and talking about how she discovered she actually loved working out.

In fact, as TooFab points out, the story was headlined with “LeAnn Rimes: How Working Out Saved Me,” which was seen by Shape readers as the closest thing to condoning LeAnn’s past behavior.

As fans must know, in 2009, while the singer / actress was working on a television movie with Eddie Cibrian, news broke that the two were having an affair.

After the ensuing denials, they split from their respective partners (both were married at the time) and then started making public appearances together, thus confirming they did have an affair as reported.

Putting Rimes now on the cover with such a headline and story equals telling women it’s right to sleep with another woman’s husband, Shape readers said.

As such, the Editor-In-Chief, Valerie Latona, has apologized to several readers who took offense, while telling them that had not been her intention.

“Subject: To my dear Shape readers. You are all in good company (why I’m e-mailing you all together) as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover,” Latona says in an e-mail that TooFab got a hold of.

“Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal-but to show (through her story) how we all are human,” Valerie goes on to say.

“And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment. But it did not come across that way... And for that I’m terribly sorry,” the EIC adds.

“I hope that we can do better the next time for those of you that will give us another chance. Humbly, Valerie,” she concludes by saying.
