Nuance Communications has just announced that its T9 Trace method input technology is now available for the bada 1.2-powered Samsung Wave II smartphone. Nuance T9 Trace continuous was announced earlier this year and lets users type faster on their touchscreen QWERTY keypad.

The company's method input is shipping with the Wave II smartphone under a different branding name, QuickType.

The Nuance T9 Trace technology offers users the possibility to input text faster, easier and more naturally than typing on a virtual keypad. It is fully integrated with Nuance XT9 predictive text, including word prediction and error correction capabilities.

“Continuous touch is incredibly hot right now, and we're thrilled that the innovative Samsung Wave II will be among the first devices in the world to ship T9 Trace,” said Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile.

“Consumers love the ease with which they can just slide their finger across the keypad to send messages and emails, or input text in the Web browser, social media applications and more. And since T9 Trace is fully integrated with XT9, words and phrases appear faster than ever before allowing consumers to say more and do more,” added Thompson.

In addition to the integration with XT9 predictive text, the T9 Trace technology is also fully compatible with the entire T9 portfolio, including Nuance T9 Write handwriting technology.

The technology supports more than 80 languages worldwide, which allows handset manufacturers to ship their devices in both established and emerging markets.

The Samsung Wave II featuring QuickType technology powered by Nuance T9 Trace will be available in November 2010 in Europe and Asian markets.

Samsung Wave II is powered by a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU and features a 3.7-inch Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

Other highlights of the device include: accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, multi-touch input method, proximity sensor for auto turn-off, TouchWiz UI 3.0, Handwriting recognition, Smart unlock.

Spec-wise, the device sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face, smile and blink detection, image stablilization, touch focus, as well as video recording capabilities (720p@30fps) and video light.

S8530 Wave is also an “all-in-one” communication tool, as it features a wide range of connectivity methods: HSDPA 3.6 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support, microUSb 2.0, GPS with A-GPS support (Samsung Mobile Navigator).
