Samsung announced that its Tocco Lite handset, also known as the Samsung S5230, would become available for purchase in the UK as soon as next month, being the latest full-touch mobile phone that the maker unveiled for users in the country. The one thing that the new handset lacks is 3G connectivity, yet the company offers it for a price that reflects its actual specifications.

The Samsung Tocco Lite, or S5230, was already spotted in the wild back in March, along with another device from the Korean phone maker, the Samsung S5600. It seems that the company sells the handset in the UK under this moniker due to the success the Tocco brand has seen in the country, with phones like the F480 and the UltraTouch S8300 also sporting it.

The specification list of the Samsung Tocco Lite includes quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, a 3-inch TFT touchscreen display able to provide a 240 x 400 pixel resolution, as well as support for 262K colors, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper, and the company's already popular TouchWiz user interface.

Other features that can be expected with the handset include an accelerometer, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, support for social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace, as well as YouTube widgets, Samsung DNSe 2.0 music technology, and an FM Radio with RDS, while more capabilities should be included in the package as well.

The memory options for the device include 50 MB of internal memory, coupled with a microSD memory card slot that can offer support for an additional up to 8 GB storage space. The Samsung Tocco Lite / S5230 measures 104 x 53 x 11.9mm. Though it is known that it should land in the UK in May, there are no details on the exact release date of the phone, nor on the price tag it will actually feature.
