Samsung's Smooth U-350 mobile phone, the successor of the currently available U-340, is expected to become available with Verizon Wireless as soon as next week. The new handset comes with a flip form factor, and is reported to be already on its way to some stores.

The new entry-level Samsung Smooth U-350 should come around with support for a nice range of Verizon-based services, such as Chaperone, VZ Navigator, Mobile Email and Mobile Web. It should also include a series of features like TXT, Picture Messaging or Mobile Web Mail, at least this is what BGR reports.

Among the other specifications of the new handset we can also count a 1.9-inch TFT display, able to offer a 128×160 resolution and support for 65K colors, a VGA photo snapper, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, Speakerphone, Voicemail, organizer and GPS. CDMA connectivity is also reported to be present with the device.

Among other features that the new Samsung Smooth U-350 is expected to come with we should also mention Embedded Ringtones, Vibrating Alerts & Silent, Color Effects, Directional Microphone or Media Center. The handset measures 3.78 x 1.87 x 0.76 inches and weighs 3.35oz. A standard Li-Ion battery has been included, able to offer up to 300 minutes of talk time, as well as up to 336 hours of standby time.

As announced above, the Samsung Smooth U-350 should become available as soon as April 1st 2009. When it comes to pricing, the phone is expected to cost $30 with a two-year contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate, yet it might retail for $50 after rebate through some channels, says BGR. And since that date is only a few days away, it won't be long before you’ll see this device become available, so sit tight.
