Samsung has announced a new 8 megapixel camera phone, SCH-V8200. This is the first 8 megapixel camera phone in the world, and this is no surprise knowing that the first 7 megapixel camera phone, the Samsung SCH-V770 was also the first of it's kind. After showing it to some of the potential distribution partners Samsung finally decided to go public with the SCH-V8200. As a direct consenquence the V8200 will hit the Korean market next month. Both camera phones will be available at the same time because their specifications are slighlty different: the 770 has a 3x optical zoom while the V8200 has just digital zoom.

V8200 features just about every new technology on the market - such as VGA (640 x 480) video recording, TV-out function, Video on Demand and Music on Demand services, MP3 Player, Microsoft Office file viewer, a 16M-color TFT Display, TransFlash external memory, dual speakers for excellent sound quality and melody composer.

With it's latest camera phone, Samsung apparently managed to eliminate the need to carry both a video camera and a phone. The handset's price is unknown for the moment and will mostly sure be available only in Korea.
