Wireless carrier T-Mobile USA is the first operator in the United States to have made the Android-based Samsung Galaxy Tab available for purchase on its airwaves.

Starting today, all those T-Mobile customers interested in the acquisition of this device can head over to the carrier's website to make a purchase.

The same as previously rumored, the new Galaxy Tab sports a price tag of $399.99 if purchased with a two-year contract agreement from the wireless carrier's website.

However, in case there are some interested in having it without an annual contract, they would have to pay $599.99 for it.

The Galaxy Tab is set to make an appearance on the airwaves of other mobile phone carriers in the United States too, including Sprint and Verizon, the latter set to add it to its offering tomorrow, while the former would release it on Sunday.

Packing a 7-inch touchscreen display, the tablet PC, Samsung's response to Apple's iPad, is powered by Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

“This 7-inch touch-screen tablet is portable yet powerful, letting you enjoy simple, rich connections to all the entertainment and information you love most, even when you’re on the go,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab comes to the market with support for 3G networks, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, and with a built-in GPS receiver.

Moreover, it sports a fast 1GHz application processor inside, along with a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and a 1.3MP camera on the front.

The slate offers support for various services from Google, as well as for a great deal of applications, which can be downloaded and installed from the Android Market.

At the same time, we should note that the tablet PC offers great multimedia features, while also offering support for social networking, email and messaging, and a series of other features more.
