Australian mobile phone carrier Telstra is expected to add to its offering a new Android-based mobile phone in mid-July, the Samsung Galaxy S II, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The wireless carrier was already known to plan the release of this device on its network, but no specific info on when that might happen has emerged until now.

All should go official as soon as June 30th, the wireless services provider announced only a few days ago, but a series of rumors on the matter already emerged, ahead of the unveiling.

Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy S II will be put for sale at Telstra as soon as July 16th, about three weeks from now.

On June 30th, the wireless carrier might indeed announce that the handset will hit the shelves two weeks later, it seems, though it remains to be seen whether there will be a pre-order period as well.

No info on the possible pricing of this device at Telstra is known for the time being, but we might expect it to be similar to what other wireless carriers offer.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the Galaxy S II debuted in Australia in early June on Optus, and that it is already available via Vodafone as well.

This is the latest flagship mobile phone from Samsung, powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz application processor, and featuring a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display.

The handset will prove a great option on Tesltra's Next G network, as it comes with HSPA+ connectivity, and will offer increased data transfer speeds to all those who will purchase it.

It also has to offer 16GB of internal memory, and supports microSD cards of up to 32GB for expanding the available storage. WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS receiver were included into the mix as well.

On the back, it sports an 8MP photo snapper that can also record videos in full HD, complemented by a front-facing camera for video calling.
