Samsung's Galaxy Note was present on the floor at the IFA 2011 show in Berlin, and got benchmarked right there on the spot, showing the best results ever.

As can be seen in the video embedded below (the good stuff starts at the 5 minutes point), the new Android-based smartphone from Samsung is capable of delivering an impressive performance.

In the Quadrant Benchmark, the mobile phone scored 3,624, showing that the 1.4GHz dual-core application processor can really do its job.

The Galaxy S II, for example, which is powered by a 1.2GHz application processor, can score somewhere between 3,200 and 3,400.

Of course, the handset was expected to deliver increased performance capabilities when compared to predecessors, yet it remains to be seen whether it will perform similarly when released on the market.

That should happen sometime in November in the Nordic countries, some of the latest reports on the web suggested, while others pointed at a Q1 2012 release time frame for the UK market.

Galaxy Note is the largest smartphone unveiled to the world to date, featuring a 5.3-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 1280 x 800 pixels resolution.

The handset packs a 1.4GHz dual-core CPU inside, paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, along with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

It will also sport an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for full HD video recording, as well as a 2MP camera on the front for video calling.

All these specs, along with the fact that it can top benchmarking tests at ease, will make the Galaxy Note one of the most expensive high-end devices on the market.

Some of the latest rumors on this suggested that it will land on some European countries priced at over 700 Euros (goes to up to 800 Euros in some), which means that it might arrive in the US at around $1000. In the UK, it is currently listed on pre-order at £600. (via)
