Only a few days old, the Android-based Samsung Galaxy Note was already made available for pre-order in the UK, via online retailer Clove.

Those who would like to be the first to grab the new handset will see it listed on the company's website with a price tag of £600 attached to it, VAT included.

However, no specific release date for the mobile phone has been unveiled until now, and chances are that users will have to wait for 2012 to arrive before being able to purchase the device.

Featuring an extra-large 5.3-inch touchscreen display, the Galaxy Note was present on the floor at the IFA 2011 show in Berlin, where Softpedia spent a few minutes in its company for hands-on photos and videos.

Samsung did not offer specific info on when the new smartphone might be released on shelves, but rumors on its availability already started to emerge, pointing at the first quarter of the next year as the expected launch window for the UK market.

However, the new device is expected to arrive in the Nordic countries sooner than that, in November this year, and chances are that more European countries will receive it then.

In addition to a large screen, Galaxy Note also comes with a fast 1.4GHz dual-core application processor inside, as well as with a high price.

Off contract, it should go for £600 in the UK, and for over 700 Euros in the Nordic countries, which means that it might not be cheap at all when released in the United States next year.

The handset might be worth every penny, as it will certainly go along nicely with the next flavor of Android too, namely Ice Cream Sandwich, but not all people will see things this way, that's for sure.

Until more info on the availability of Galaxy Note emerge, users in the UK who would like to reserve a unit for when it is released should head over to Clove.uk here for that. (via)
